Welcome to Herschel Lake, a local favorite formerly known as Tilton Lake or Blue Pond. Dedicated to the legacy of the late Mayor Herschel Jones, this community gem has been updated to offer a cleaner, more modern outdoor experience for fishing enthusiasts and families alike. 

 

Hours: Open year-round. Park closes daily at 10pm, except for active fishing and boating.

We have refreshed the grounds to focus on leisure and comfort:
Boat Ramp & Dock: Easy water access for boaters and a sturdy fishing dock for those staying on shore.
Pavilion & Picnic Area: A spacious open shelter perfect for gatherings, featuring charcoal grills and picnic tables.
Updated Restrooms: Clean, modern, and fully renovated facilities for your convenience.
Open Recreation: We have created a more open, serene landscape for lounging and enjoying the view.

 

Fishing Regulations

To Preserve our local ecosystem, all visitors must follow Illinois State and Village Regulations.

Large or Small Mouth Bass

– 15″ minimum length
– 1 Fish Daily Harvest Limit

Channel Catfish

– 12″ minimum length
– 3 Fish Daily Harvest Limit

Bluegill or Redear Sunfish

15 Fish Daily Harvest Limit

Pole Limit

2 Pole and Line Fishing Only!

The Village of Tilton Police Department strictly enforces all lake ordinances to ensure a safe environment for everyone.
