The Village Clerk's position is appointed by the Village Mayor. The Clerk is the historian of the community for the entire recorded history of the village and its people. The Village Clerk provides a service function to the Village of Tilton as well as support services to other departments within the village structure. The duties of the clerk are essential to the operation of the community.

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintains official records and documents including archives

  • Keeper of the Village Seal

  • Attends and records the proceedings of all Village Board meetings

  • Records and publishes Village Board meeting minutes

  • Maintains official ordinances and resolutions records

  • Countersigns and seals official documents, licenses, permits, etc.

  • Administers oaths

  • Answers inquiries from other government units and citizens
